UI/UX

  • Created UI elements for player inventory

  • Created UI elements for all menu screens

  • Created Gears of Discovery Logo, expressing the theme of the game within the design

  • Combined UI elements to create and polish the player’s HUD, focusing on readability and player affordance

  • Created save game function to store and save settings values such as volume, resolution, and screen mode (Fullscreen, windowed fullscreen, and windowed)

Game Design

  • Created behavior for Stamina pickups, ensuring the stamina value given to the player was rewarding but scarce enough for the player to continue to search them out

  • Created behavior for health pickups, ensuring each one healed the player enough to get them through each area but scares enough so the player needed to use caution when traversing puzzles and enemies

  • Created player health values, and modular damage system to allow for new damage types to be implemented with ease

  • Populated player controller, binding each key to player abilities, movement controls, and HUD interaction

  • Adjusted player character blueprint to incorporate proper reaction to different pickups

  • Created system to use picked up items from the player’s inventory and properly communicate with player HUD to update visual components when an item was used

  • Created a volume box that when the player entered it would pause the game, showing focused text in the center of the screen, allowing the designer to place whatever text they would like to best explain the upcoming events

Level Design

  • Created blockout for tutorial level

  • Implemented assets into level using modular tools for buildings

  • Placed player pickups around level that gave the player direction and allowed them to make meaningful decisions

  • Created different sections in tutorial level using IPM to allow the player to learn the fundamentals of the game

  • Designed puzzle room to introduce the player to the types of puzzles they will encounter throughout the game

  • Placed bolt pickups around level to be used as breadcrumbs, allowing player to have something to collect and chase after while giving them a sense of direction through each section

  • Placed volume boxes around each new section that explain to the player what they will be facing up against and the best way to get through each section

  • Placed checkpoints throughout each section that allowed the player to respawn at the most recent checkpoint after death

  • Added death volume around the exterior of the map to prevent the player from exploiting the level

Weapon Designer (Full Sail Project)

  • Created modular weapon system to allow designers to easily create new weapons quickly and effectively

  • Designed starting pistol using blender to create and rig a 3D asset

  • Used blender to create a UV map of the pistol model to allow for custom UV textures

Assistant Store Leader

  • Received shipments of product from UPS daily, ensuring each item in the shipment was accounted for.

  • Shipped out items for customer orders daily through FedEx Express and FedEx Ground.

  • Trained all new employees on the basics of customer care, organization, customer interaction, game knowledge, as well as the POS system for the first two weeks of the new position.

  • Cooperated with team daily to problem solve throughout every issue to efficiently resolve each problem.

  • Organized each video game section daily by sorting game titles alphabetically.

  • Completed counts of inventory once every week to ensure the store's stock is correct.

  • Ensured customer satisfaction was at an all time high by greeting every customer walking in the store and helping each one throughout the shopping experience.

  • Opened and closed the store by counting money in the safe and registers to prepare for the following day and making daily deposits with Wells Fargo Bank.

  • Spoke with the district manager to maintain proper procedures around the store as well as unsure shipments from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are correct and on time.

  • Communicate with Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft representatives to ensure products is up to date and play test areas are working properly.

  • Edited and audited timecards weekly to ensure all employees were paid properly.

  • Created schedules every week for team of 10, making adjustments based upon employees availability.

  • Held Weekly conference calls with stores throughout the district to go over performance and communicate ideas to one another to help improve every store.
